Is it even worth learning German anymore? Concerned about racism and xenophobia.

I’ve been thinking about learning German because I love the culture, history, and language, but I’m feeling conflicted. I’m a Latino, brown-skinned man from colombia currently studying engineering here and i would like to travel to Germany after i graduate. As I’ve been exploring online German communities and content, I’ve noticed a lot of posts and comments that seem racist, xenophobic, or even Islamophobic. There’s also a lot of "save Europe" rhetoric that feels exclusionary and unsettling.

It’s making me wonder if I’d face issues if I were to engage with German speakers, whether online or in person, especially if I ever visit Germany.

I’d love to hear from people who’ve had similar experiences or from Germans themselves. Is this an accurate reflection of German society, or is it just a vocal minority online?

I really want to make an informed decision before committing to learning the language.
