Secret Drawer

I am looking for help. My aunts are looking for the secret drawer for this family desk. It came from Germany when family immigrate to the US around 1840.

We have taken flashlights out, measured drawer depths and can't seem to figure it out. Many people in the family were shown over 20 yrs ago and cannot remember. Any help would be appreciated.
