Mardi Gras generates plastic waste unfathomable to most

While in New Orleans I cracked open FB marketplace.

I was appalled at the never ending sales posts about "Mardi Gras throw items." All plastic. All single use. All destined to the trash. By the ton.

Beads. Coins. Stuffed animals. Rubber Ducks. Sold by the pound for cheap. I can't imagine the thought process behind this wanton waste.

I already work in retail where I see corporate stores generate more plastic than I'll use in my life, and this was depressing on whole other level.
