Invention/Inventor anime?
looking for some where the MC is a levelheaded and good inventor. ive seen many that are in this category but need more (good ones). not big on harem collectors, ecchi, ditzy, etc. i just want solid characters who have a story to them. yagami/lelouch is my favorite MC archetype. heres the ones in this genre ive seen already and what i liked/disliked. should work as a list for other people searching and provide a background to any recommenders who might help me. ill put them in order of how i liked them, best first.
-Steins; Gate. MC is an inventor, loved the show and all connected anime. the time travel side isnt what im looking for specifically but its not a downside
-The Irregular at Magic High School. i liked a lot how he combined science and magic to become OP. unfortunate sister arc.
-The World's Finest Assassin gets Reincarnated in Another world as an Aristocrat. i very much like the isekai setting where the MC is smart and invents stuff from earth and/or mixes it with local magic. supposedly they will finish it but who knows, seems like even if they do, they will likely get very sidetracked with the story. bringing tech advancements from earth and redo-ing them in a fantasy magic setting is perfect.
-How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom. he didnt invent much but he brought some key advancements over. sometimes annoying that he wouldnt bring stuff up about earth when it would be natural to. second season was harem focused :(
*-*Ascendance of a Bookworm. its fitting but she isnt an inventor per se, just works on inventing this one thing and has to do many steps to do it.
______|^| what im looking for |^|____| v | not quite what im looking for | v |_____
-Dr Stone. this one was cool, but restarting a civilization is not really what im looking for even though hes definitely an inventor. Senku is 100 billion times smart and Taiju is 100 billion times dumb but honorable, they arent real characters. as a show its kinda built on cheaper silly comedy of goofy characters instead of serious issues, even while the serious issues are in their face, its writing stretches everything to the light hearted direction. the final season actually began airing today, and ill keep watching.
-Arifureta. good concept but poor writing and power scaling with no solid explanation of the magic system makes it dull. (this happens and then this happens, instead of this happens therefore this happens)
-The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady. this one was nice, it was isekai/reincarnated for no reason, and the show never really branches out from the core group/location. if it was more focused on the inventing i would like it more for this genre im after. very melodramatic
-In Another World with My Smartphone. he doesnt really invent, but he combines tech with magic a little bit, but its mostly done for him in the shows premise its not really him continually doing it as the focus of the show.
-High School Prodigies have it Easy Even in Another World. was so promising from the synopsis but tbh i didnt finish it. feels like it was written by someone who was told what animes are supposed to be like so they tried to make it fit in. if it was good it would be great.
theres probably a lot of ones that ive seen that could be on this list but they arent coming to mind, and charlie sheen says thats okay.
