Want to know how to join / play multiplayer

Me and my buddy are getting ark survival evolved and want to know that can we host a world and join each other ?

We don't want a server which is online 24 hours

Like if I have a world and I started playing in it can he join that world and play with me ? And when I go offline the server goes offline with me as I was the host
