Are protein bars a healthy food?

Are the protein bars not as good for me as I'm thinking? I ordered Barebells and loved them but definitely can't do that again. They triggered some sort of craving and I was wanting one right after another. Without serious effort I would have had at least four in a row, maybe five. If I get any it's going to be the Pure Protein bars because I can stick with one at a time. Am I tricking myself and eating glorified candy bars?
